The Sirens: study of a female head

Date: 1895

Materials: Pencil

For a massive late oil painting known as 'The Sirens' (Ringling Museum of Art, Sarasota, Florida), Burne-Jones made some of his finest figure studies, including a large group of striking but delicate head studies, all bearing inscriptions showing them to have been regarded as significant works in their own right.
